Manila Laneway House - Located in Central Makati, Metro Manila, this four storey residential building houses a luxury suite per floor.  The defining character of the building is its extensive use of glass block for its facades.  Houses in the Philippines often have small windows that rarely allow for natural daylight to enter.  This causes a detrimental effect on human psychology over time and can lead to claustrophobia and depression.  Glass block is insulative, lets in ample amounts of indirect light and is also private with its patterened fritting imprinted on the glass.  A rooftop sundeck and lounge, with a ground level pool, sauna and garden allow all residents to relax comfortably without leaving the building.
