Soap Press

A common problem in the household is wasted soap slivers; the leftover thin piece of a bar of used soap that usually end up getting tossed in the trash or haphazardly pressed together with a new bar in the hopes of salvaging the miniscule remains. This Soap Press addresses the problem by compacting several slivers together into a “new” reusable block of soap. Machined using an EDM process that creates an object with virtually imperceptible seam lines, the Soap Press sits as an ominous sculptural object in a modern bathroom. A set of sleeves seamlessly nest into one another allowing for the mold to produce soap bars of two sizes. Naturally, the thickness of the reconstituted soap can also be adjusted to suit each individual’s preference by simply adding a thicker layer of soap slivers before compressing.
